She laughed lightly at that, "Ah it would be refreshing to actually be able to have an intelligent conversation with a girl at work instead of having to listen to mindless dribble all the time," Really she wasn't a big fan of most of her co workers, but in that same vein, not many of them were fond of her either, they found her to be too 'uncouth' for them.
"Unfortunately though, most people tend to be either put off or scared of women like me," She said with a shrug, it wasn't her fault most people were sissy's though, "That and most women that had my type of childhood tend to end up in jail, a shelter, or dead," Life was harsh and to be honest many of the people that she had grown up with had ended up in either one or more of the above.

Bruce nodded but said nothing much about there being more women like her at his work. There were woman, but mostly secretaries and the type with the feminine jobs. It would probably be an insult to mention them.
“I cant imagine why that is. I think you’re very clever but not intimidating…” He frowned. Why was it that men sometimes were intimidated by intelligent women. He could never figure it out.
As she started to speak of her childhood, his expression turned slightly sympathetic. “That’s awful. Do you… want to talk about it?” He started, wondering exactly how bad Devis past was…

Another shrug, "Not sure, then again most men seemed to be intimated by other men that prove to be clever enough, let alone women, or that is to say especially women that sport tattoos and piercings," She looked out at the water for a moment, "Many still hold on to old social ideals and because of that people would rather think that people who look like me are hoodlums and such," Not fit to work in the world of business, or in some cases not fit to hold down a good nine to five.
Her nose wrinkled slightly at the question, it would be rude if she didn't say anything, or so she felt that way, especially since she had been the one to bring it up in the first place, and it wasn't like something bad would become of it as long as she left out some key parts, like anything that had to do with guns, murder, her relationship with alcohol while growing up, and assassination for example
Sighing softly Devi turned her eyes on him, really it would be the right thing to do to at least tell him something of her past as everyone, her included, knew his, "I never met my mom," She started, "The woman walked out on me and my father when I was still real little. My dad, he wasn't really fit to be a father, sure he tried for a while, but eventually he stopped trying"
She took a moment to shake her head, "Instead he picked up drinking, bring home prostitutes, and beating me, which in turn lead to me spending whatever time I wasn't in school out on the streets," Perhaps that would be enough to sate his curiosity for a while.

Bruce listened to Dinahs story with interest, although he felt sorry for her he tried not to show it. He didn’t think Devi was the type to like sympathy.
“Wow…” He leaned in and his arm slide closer to her, “And just look at you now Devi. You’ve become quite the triumph considering your past… I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little jealous.”
Being born with a silver spoon in his mouth sometimes made Bruce feel rather spoiled and unworthy of all he had…

Oh thank goodness he hadn't gone and started into any sort of sympathy thing, she hated it when people did that to her, there was no reason and it really didn't help in any way, shape, or form, and it was extremely awkward, to say the least.
"That is something I take pride in," Devi said with a smile, honestly after all the crap she had gone through over the years it didn't seem so bad when she stepped back and looked at where she was now, "It's amazing how things end up falling into place, isn't it?"
She couldn't help but let herself lean in a little as well, the woman really enjoyed being psychically close to the man, there was just something about him, "Now there's really no need for that," Devi spoke in regards to his being a little jealous, "I just worked with what I was handed, as I'm sure everyone does,"

Bruce closed the umbrella and set it to the side before he scooted closer and slide his other arm around Devis slender waist to hold her in a silent invite to lean against him.
“As you should be.” He said softly.
He nodded then and thought for a moment. It was true, everyone only had what they had to work with.
“I’m any case. I keep railing you with questions. Do you have any for me?” He asked, lowering his voice, his breath gently whispering against her ear…

She smiled at the man and leaned against him a bit, gladly taking the silent invitation. Goodness this man was just amazing, really she couldn't claim to have ever met a man quite like him. Devi simply nodded for a moment and let herself get a bit more comfortable.
Devi couldn't help but shiver lightly at that, feeling goosebumps break out on her arms. That was always something that got to the girl, having some one whispering against her ear and she had to fight back the sudden urge to jump the man.
Biting at her bottom lip for a moment she turned to look at him, realizing just how close they were, which was barely a nose away, "Hmm," The corners of her lips twitched up wards, "Ya know I'm not quite sure just what to ask," Just what was there to ask, she continually got the feeling that most of his answers were halfhearted, though it really didn't bother her that much.

His hand remained against the skin of her bare midriff and only after a moment did it slide forward and back only once in a caress. It might have been taken as a simple shift in position but Bruce was trying to be sly.
Again, he scooted a little closer so that Devi was leaning against him fully and he smiled.
“Well… I don’t know either. Sometimes I think everybody already knows more about me than I do. After all, have you read the tabloids lately?”

Again another soft shiver moved down her spine, Devi didn't know if he was just shifting a bit or being sly, but she couldn't deny the fact that she definitely liked it.
"Nope, reading into peoples private lives has never been my thing," Really she'd always just sort of looked at the covers of tabloids, scoffed slightly and went about her business, she couldn't comprehend why someone would want to read about another persons drama, lord knows she had enough of her own to deal with. And if you really needed a fix, that's what daytime TV was for.
"To be honest I've alway rather had read those supermarket tabloids, the ones about martians and Jesus, and guys trring to sue the devil," The woman was after all an odd one, and she got quite a laugh from reading them. Though she had always wondered where the hell they got the ideas for them from.

She nodded slightly, grinning as she looked at him, "Now while I don't actually put stock in the stuff there are people that really do," Which was actually sort of a scary thought when someone really mused on it.
Turning her sapphire eyes back on him she smirked at the man not that one must have been on purpose, but what was she to do in return? There honestly wasn't much she could think of, then again she hadn't been on a date in a very long time. Well when all else failed..., "So have any ideas how you want today to go?" Devi asked and offered a rather flirtatious smile in punctuation.

Bruce merely smiled when Devi turned her head to look back at him, and he took advantage of the moment to lean in and leave a small peck on the side of her mouth before he glanced at the horizon to make sure they weren’t heading for anything dangerous.
“Well… I brought lunch from Alfred. Speaking of which he wants to meet you as well. I’m not sure if I should be jealous or not.” He was joking, “And other than that my only goal is to make sure you have a good time.”
He glanced at the helm and got an idea, “Have you ever steered a sailboat before?”
